That crashing isn't common. In cases such as this, I tend to suspect
either a) copying and pasting from weird things (Firefox used to cause
problems as a source for copy/paste, though I think that's fixed) or b)
printer drivers, if we rule out spyware/viruses (very common) and
hardware problems (less so, but still surprisingly). Keep your computer
clean, and update your printer driver to the most recent, perhaps
installing PrimoPDF as your default printer. (For technical reasons,
Windows programs that do any sort of page layout depend heavily on the
default printer, and for some reason some printer drivers just don't
like AbiWord very much - it tends to be easiest to just work around this
by installing a free PDF printer as the default.)
If you can narrow down the sources of your crash (to an action, series
of actions, or document) please file a bug at
http://bugzilla.abisource.com/ after searching for duplicates.
