I'm sorry, I certainly didn't mean to offend, and you have certainly
done nothing to merit sarcasm, although I confess I was amused that you
were using the built-in plugins option without having abiword-plugins.
That is a recent option, not yet fully implemented, barely tested,
completely undocumented (mea culpa, mea culpa, mea maxima culpa) and
really not intended for general use, so I was a little startled that
you were trying it. I was expecting you to come back with "Okay, I
tried that, but AbiWord doesn't link..." to which I would in turn reply
"Gosh." Still, that's experimental features for you. Not insurmountable.
Despite the flippancy of my response, it contains the necessary
instructions.

The --disable-shared is necessary because the AC_DISABLE_SHARED I added
to the config scripts was causing problems so we removed it.
