We're trying to remain quite tightly focused on Open Source desktop
productivity applications. Until we have enough folks cranking out
substantial chunks of Office replacement products, it would be kind of
irresponsible for us to start tackling other products too. (Not to mention
that we're thoroughly satisfied users of CVS.)
However, the product I think you're looking for *does* already exist, and
it's called SourceOffSite. You can buy it, today, from SourceGear, the
company who's been quietly sponsoring AbiSource since our inception.
The overlap between the AbiSource folks and the SourceOffSite folks is
essentially nil, but I do know enough about SOS to say this:
The SOS client was ported to GTK a long time ago by some very talented
engineers I know personally, and runs on both Linux and Solaris. AFAIK,
it's one of the few shipping proprietary products to have done so.
