Since, this issue concerns an open source project I'm in favor of maintaining
the conversation in open.

See the link to Ethnologue, an international encyclopedic reference work
cataloging all of the world’s 6,912 known living languages.

Read the entry for the "Catalan-Valencian-Balear" language
http://www.ethnologue.com/show_language.asp?code=cat

It says nothing about Valencian language because it is a political invention
with no linguistic community backing it up.

And I invite you to read also Wikipedia:

Linguistic issues

There is consensus amongst linguists that Valencian is the name for the
Catalan language which is spoken in the Land of Valencia. The word is also
used to refer to the dialect of this territory to differentiate it from the
Catalan language as a whole, or from the "Catalan of Barcelona" (Central
Catalan group of varieties). In this sense it can be considered a dialect of
the Western Catalan variety (Bloc occidental -see for more details Catalan
language-), which also includes the varieties of La Franja, Andorra, Lleida
province and the southern half of Tarragona province.
;-------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's clear to me and to all the cientific and linguists communties back the
idea that Valencian is a dialect of Catalan.

I have no problem in accepting a dialectal Valencian/Catalan version of
Abiword that follows the rules accepted by the linguistics and cientific
communities, but not a Valencian version that does not (like yours) and is
created following no grammatical or syntactical rules *with the unique
objective* of fragmenting and destroying the Catalan language, applying the
old divide and conquer idea.

And to end up my message, I'm not kidding, this is a very serious issue for me
and all the people that in or daily bases have to defend our language.

Jordi,
