I've also been having formatting problems. When I imported a WinWord97 file,
about half of the 2 letter words (like "of") in the sentence became superscript. I
tried editing a word or 2, saving the document in .abw format, then exiting
abiword and restarting and reloading the document. This seem to fix it. (I tried a
lot of other things too that didn't work).
