First, let me state that it is this kind of attitude that makes Open Source
projects what they are. 20 minutes of effort by everyone is what makes the
whole greater than the sum of the parts.
In this particular case, a core file wouldn't help. A core file contains a
snapshot with the function stack and variable values, thus making it very
effective for analyzing crashing behavior.
For a case such as the one above, where the formatter does weird things,
what we really need is someone to be able to write down the exact steps
that will result in anyone being able to see the behavior. Once we have
that, I can figure all of the combinations of events that produce the
problem, log it, and then route it to the right person.
