Don't hit me for obvious questions: Where did you get the software
from exactly? I assume from http://abisource.com/download/

Did you really click on the link for Windows (which is called
"Microsoft Windows" unfortunately, maybe it should be renamed to
"Abiword for Windows") and download
http://abisource.com/downloads/abiword/2.8.1/Windows/abiword-setup-2.8.1.exe
on your machine?

I suspect that
- you clicked on a wrong link (either for different operating system
or something similar)
- your download didn't work correctly and you have a partial/corrupt
file on your machine (in that case: Please retry the download)

In any case: Giving the exact source location and the name of the file
that Windows doesn't recognize would probably help.
