Abiword closes before printing

I can read and write with abiword. However, if I click the print
preview icon or the print icon the program closes immediately. This
happens in the Arch system. I booted Linux Mint to test it for my
sister. The behavior did not surface with that OS. I posted to the
Arch forums but got no reply. I found one post with similar problems.
The solution was to use a different writer.

Any one have any ideas on the fix?
