Thanks for the suggestion - I have found 2 ways of acheiving what I want
(logo and company details at the top of the first page only, about 2.5"
depth, and one line of text at the bottom of the first page only).
Selecting 'header different first page' and deleting the contents leaves a
2.5" deep header on subsequent pages which is no use to me.
Both of my solutions do not use a header - the 2.5" logo and company
details are inserted into the body text
