Alan,
I did a simple "mv ~/.AbiSuite ~/.AbiSuite.bak", and now
it successfully launches, as "user", from the command line,
the menu, and the desktop icon!
Thank you!
Was this really a "shot in the dark", or can you enlighten
me as to the nature of the "bugaboo", and why this seems to have
helped"?
Greg

There have been some upgrade issues as a result of changes to the
Abiword.Profile
try (re)moving your Abiword.Profile from ~/.Abisuite
please tell me if helps solve any of the problems you describe
Sincerely
Alan
