Hi Developers, Dear Mailing List,
a good while ago I stumbled upon the Abiword word processor and find it
quite interesting, as well as the whole Abiword project.
Being myself a trained translator with some experience in the field of
software localization, I am/was looking for a new project that I could
possibly distribute my skills and knowledge.
My last active cooperation was with the Scribus team more than one year
ago, which I discontinued due to temporary private reasons. Although
working with Scribus translations was good, it more than often required
technical knowledge that was kind of hard to acquire - if you are not a
graphics geek. :-)
Well, it's a week ago now that I subscribed for the Abiword mailing
list, and I've been working on the PO-file (de-DE) of the stable version
(2.6.x) since then. And there have been quite a couple of translated
terms which I could evaluate and replace. Currently I'm in the main
synchronizing menu entries and dialogs with MS Word 2000, of which I
have a very useful illustrated compendium at hand.
Once I have a copy of the translated PO-file ready, I will send it to you.
Any questions, hints or suggestions? Please let me know!
Kind regards,
Volker Ribbert
