That is weird: AbiWord will never try to convert your documents without
you explicitly opening the file in AbiWord, and saving it as a different
file format.

Are you sure AbiWord is responsible for this?

I could have a *look* at it, but I can't make any promises. Generally
the process of converting a document from one format into another is a
mess one. Unfortunately.
