spellchecker and thesaurus installation

Hello,

I've compiled and installed abiword 2.8.1 and it works fine, but has neither spellchecker nor thesaurus included. How should I go about installing them? My distro is debian squeeze and the repository has an older version of abiword and plugins. If I install those plugins, did they work with the new abiword?
