GNOME's recent documents

Hi, I'm new around here. I've used Abiword for a while in the past, but
there was a really annoying problem with the "save as odt" feature that
prevented me from using it. I've just installed version 2.6.8 and I'm
glad to see that it now works fine!

Now that I'm back at Abiword, what I would like to know is: when I open
a document through Abiword's file menu, it doesn't get added to GNOME's
recent documents, under Places. Why is that? Since Abiword seems a lot
more integrated with GNOME than OpenOffice, I wonder if there is a way
to do it.
