Abiword on CentOS 5.2 compile fail, ./configure claims fribidi is missing.

I haven't been able to find a reliable source for Abiword rpms for
RHEL/CentOS 5.2.

./configure ends with the following

checking for FRIBIDI... no

fribidi sources can be downloaded from SourceForge

     http://freedesktop.org/Software/FriBidi

Note: Don't use the fribidi source which is sometimes
       included with AbiWord since that version is for
       Windows only.
configure: error: * * * fribidi >= 0.10.4 is required * * *

but fribidi-0.10.7-5.1.i386 is installed.

[root@localhost abiword-2.6.6]# ls -l /usr/lib| grep -i fribidi
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 19 Mar 4 03:00 libfribidi.so.0 ->
libfribidi.so.0.0.0
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 60488 Dec 10 2006 libfribidi.so.0.0.0

How can I get the configure script to recognize fribidi and use it?

Is there some documentation somewhere I should be referring to when
building Abiword?

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!
