no "deactivate" button (gentoo)

Hello,

I've been more or less going crazy over this -- there is no
"deactivate" button in my Tools->Plugins dialog (from my googling, it
appears this button in fact does exist for some people, right??).
Does anyone know why this might be?

I am wondering if I didn't include the proper USE flags for AbiWord,
or, more likely, something it depends on. Here are my global USE
flags, though it is very possible that something that AbiWord depends
on was compiled with a different set:

USE="-gnome -kde -qt3 -qt4 X alsa hal dbus startup-notification \
        xcomposite cups xscreensaver ieee1394 firefox pcmcia usb v4l v4l2 a52 \
        mdnsresponder-compat bash-completion avahi cairo git subversion \
svg png jpeg mpeg avi gif oggvorbisthreads acpi nvidia xulrunner \
        spell mp3 opengl threads"

I also have another (unrelated??) problem, but I thought maybe it
would be a clue. When I go to Edit->Preferences->Spell Checking,
"Highlight misspelled words", "Always suggest corrections", and
"Suggest from main dictionaries only" are grayed out and unchecked.
However, AbiWord does highlight misspelled words and provide
suggestions when I right-click on a misspelled word.

I'd be enormously grateful for any insight!

Noah
