I installed Abiword-X11 via macports. It takes a long time to start
and gives some strange error messages before starting.
The first is:
Xlib: extension "RANDR" missing on display ":0.0".
Then a few seconds later it goes:
Dynamic session lookup supported but failed: launchd did not provide a
socket path, verify that org.freedesktop.dbus-session.plist is loaded!
It gives the above error (Dynamic session) a few times.
Then the main Abiword Window comes up, and an X11 dialogue comes up saying:
An error occurred while loading or saving configuration information
for abiword. Some of your configuration settings may not work
properly.
If you click on the button for detail of the error, it says:
Failed to contact configuration server; some possible causes are that
you need to enable TCP/IP networking for ORBit, or you have stale NFS
locks due to a system crash. See http://www.gnome.org/projects/gconf/
for information. (Details - 1: Failed to get connection to session:
Not enough memory)

Then Abiword seems to function okay - with all fonts, etc. The spell
checker is greyed out and I would like to spell check. I'd also like
to get rid of the error messages if possible. Are there plugins for
this version?
Apologies to the list if this is detailed anywhere. I have been
searching archived messages, but haven't found anything yet.
Thanks for any help.
