I've seen many bugreports about dictionaries not installing under
Windows after I got the 'failed to load dictionary' error several
times. I had this problem and it wasn't resolved by reinstalling the
program.
First I tried using the program installer to download and install, but
this failed with no .hash dictionary file anywhere to be seen. I then
tried the separate dictionary installer and this put the required
..hash file in AbiSuite2\dictionary, but I still got the same error.
After a bit of googling I found that the problem was that there was no
ispell_dictionary_list.xml file installed anywhere. The dictionary
installer doesn't even contain this file - I know this because I
managed to extract the contents of the installer and it just contained
the .hash file.
After getting a copy of ispell_dictionary_list.xml from the internet
and copying it to AbiSuite2\dictionary, everything worked. I hope this
helps any Windows users having this problem. I'm using XP SP3.
