grammar check not functioning

Hi!

Using MEPIS Linux (Ubuntu packages), I've installed Abiword, Abiword
plugins, Aspell & link-grammar (with the appropriate English dictionaries.

As far as I can tell the grammar check is not working. I looked in FAQ
& searched the WIKI, but see nothing on grammar-check. Spell-check is,
but I see nothing to indicate grammar-check is functioning. How do I:

*verify installation
*test it
*start it (there is a spell-check button, but no gramm-check button)
