End-of-line mark

sometimes i have a document (converted from html or other format) where
each line has an and of line mark (like a reverse P), 2 or more of the same
as an end of the paragraph.

In MS-Word I can remove these and let the normal wrap do its job by
find/replace ^p^p with something such as && than find/replace ^p with
space, then replace && with ^p^p. Maybe there is a simpler way, if anyone
know please advise.

This doesn't work in AbiWord. AbiWord doesn't recognize the ^p as
end-of-line. What can I use for end-of-line?

I use AbiWord 2.4.6 with Win XP SP2

Thanks for the help.
