disabling alt+F file menu

  Does anyone know how to disable alt+F selecting the File menu? I'm not sure
if this is an abiword thing, or a KDE thing, but I think that the app
controls it. The problem I'm having is that when I use abiword in emacs mode
and hit alt+f to move forward by a word, the File menu is selected.
