Segment Fault

I am using Abiword under Mac OS X 10.2.8 (Jaguar). I am using the Apple
X11 Beta 3 - XFree86 4.2.1 x-window installation. Abiword worked well
before but suddenly refuses to launch. I get the error:

Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by C library
/sw/bin/abiword: line 73: 1943 Segmentation fault
$ABISUITE_LIBEXEC/AbiWor
d_d "$@"

I tried reinstalling Abiword (with Fink) but the problem persists.
Since Abiword always worked before and I didn't change anything with
Abiword, I'm guessing that some software I installed in my X11 system
is probably causing the trouble. GIMP and axyftp continue to work under
X11, but gnumeric also refuses to open.

I'm thinking of completely wiping out my X11 directories and
reinstalling everything from scratch. Could anyone suggest the best way
to do this?
