I explained it was not cheating at all, Microsoft have used the same trick
themselves. (I think wordperfect may have also allowed use of the .doc
file extension arbitraritly).

I badgered you on behalf of users who care not as much for technical
correctness as they do for the "just works" approach we usually favour.
