The file you changed is only used by the console. If you want to hack
the keyboard used by X, look for a directory called xkb containing a
subdirectory called symbols. I think it's
/usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb/symbols
but I'm not sure. You may have some trouble with it though, 'cause it's
a real jungle of different include files interfering with each other.
Anyway, I'll send you later the symbolic keycode used by the keypad
decimal in xkb. It should help you, but I need to check first, because
I don't remember it by heart.
