http://www.abisource.com/changelogs/2.0.4.phtml I've reread the changelog
and Abiword 2.0.4 is not substantially different from version 2.0.3 and
although Hub has made some changes to the importers (including RTF).
I really dont think version 2.0.4 will have fixed the problem you have
been having.
If you are willing to help your best bet would be to try the nightly
unstable builds based on the newer 2.1.x branch (or ideally compile the
latest version of Abiword from CVS)

Or just file a bug report and attach the files to Bugzilla (if you need
any help at all with that just mail the list and I'll try to answer
