It may not have been quite clear from my previous posting,
but the main problem is that turning off spell checking
has no effect on the behaviour of the program in this
respect. I tried both of your suggestions, but without
any result.
As I thought about the problem, it occurred to me that
it may as well be not so much due to spell checking, but to
glyph shaping and Pango, and this way not an AbiWord bug in
the strict sense. But not all variants of AbiWord (eg. the
Windows build) rely on an independent Pango installation,
so if for no other reason, at least because of this it still
has some bearing on AbiWord itself.
I know this may seem as an exotic problem for most of you,
but the main point is being able to use every single Unicode
character independently if one wishes to do so, after all that's
why each of them has its independent code.
I'll check with the Pango documentation to find out if such
things can be controlled at runtime and if so, how. If some of
you already knows, please write it.
Regards,
busmanus
