Are you using KDE?
If so, it's a GTK+ theming issue, start gnome-settings-daemon, and that
should solve it.
You could also put that in your Autostart folder, or, there's an updated
version of control-center2 available at www.usr-local-bin.org (in the
Misc Stuff section) that will do this for you.
The site also has the SuSE 8.2 build of AbiWord 2.0.0 etc :)
