This is a meaningless warning for abi.

This configure check needs to be removed, and you need
    to install one of:

    1) GdkPixbuf
    2) ImageMagick
    3) JPEG

    Plugins.

    More like:

    ftp://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/gal/1.99/gal-1.99.1.tar.bz2

Better yet, get the CVS version. Besides, The Gnome
build of 1.1.3 doesn't even compile, let alone work.
CVS version with Gnome support rocks the Casbah.

We require Xft2. If you don't have it, well toughies.
