    The GTK2 version of AbiWord uses FontConfig+Xft2 to
    find and draw fonts. The short answer is "put the
    fonts in a place where fontconfig can find them." The
    long answer is, well, I don't know. Hopefully someone
    else (or google) will, though. You'd do well to email
    the package's maintainer.
