Well, I read a few notes back at least, and got the tree to expand, got
all the way up to ./configure [arguments]. Not knowing the arguments, I
tried to run the configure.ac and .in files. didn't work. Saw in the
faq that typing autogen.sh made a difference so I tried it. What it
pulled was odd. It appeared to make more progress, but didn't. It
    installed 'ac-helpers/install.sh', /mkinstalldirs, and /missing. then
it said "required directory src/af/xap does not exist

I tried make from there in frustration and the build failed, citing
    "Error 2".

    a) where can I find the missing directory to install it?
    b) where can I find a list of Errors in installation?
    c) Is this going to work with glib 1.2.1? the build file said 1.2.7.

    thanks, sorry to bother, Joe
