    Hi Damian,
              Thank you for your interest. You can find abiword for Mandrake 9
    in the "contributed" rpms section of their website.

    If you plan to contrinue to use abiword and mandrake I suggest you write a
    the good folks at Mandrake an email requesting that they provide abiword
    builds as part of their official distribution.

    Afterall their main rival, RedHat does.

    Unfortunately we do not have the resources to make Mandrake builds
    ourselves.

    yes, it is quite possible. You just need the British English spell
    checking dictionary installed on your system.

    If Mandrake does not supply this, another polite email should be sent
    asking them to rectify this because RedHat does.

    If you build Abiword yourself I suggest you build the gnome-enabled build.
    It has a number of very useful additions. If this you'll need to install
    all the gnome-devel and gtk-devel libraries.

    You'll have no problem running gnome-enabled abiword from within KDE. Many
    of developers do this.

    However it will look like other gtk applications (like the GIMP and
    Evolution) rather than a KDE because only redhat 8 has succeeded in making
    applications made with gtk and qt look the same.
