I can't confirm this, but I don't use AbiWord extensively so maybe it just
hasn't happened *yet*

If ~/.AbiSuite/AbiWord.Profile is missing then AbiWord generates it.
I can turn off the font warning and the splash screen here successfully.

Well, the binary RPMs are usually created on RedHat systems so they are
likely to work better there. For best results, compiling AbiWord yourself
is recommended...
