Not only do we provide a darn good word processor on something like 5
platforms (not counting gtk vs. gnome and all of the different unixes
out there...), but we also provide the source code, help-lists, faqs,
documentation, binaries, irc, and a bug tracking database - all free of
charge. Sometimes I don't know why we do it because 9 times out of 10 we
end up getting grief from people like yourself. That's not to say that
there aren't many appreciative users out there (they are actually by far
the majority...), but rather that people like yourself are all the more
vocal.
We provide these binaries in hopes that they will be useful to you. They
are only guaranteed to work on the builder's machine, but have also been
tested by at least one third party. If they don't work on your machine,
well I do apologize, but Ximian also ships Gnome versions of AbiWord
that are guaranteed to work for your particular configuration. Wait the
extra 2 days that it typically takes for them to build AbiWord binaries.
Please learn how to use rpmfind.net and rpm and maybe even ln -s. A good
craftsman never blames his tools. An adequate craftsman at least knows
how to use his tools. A beginner craftsman at least knows that things
called tools exist...
