Its very simple for a PC, but for a Mac, I don't know ...
In order to substitute the Windows-ttf fonts to original AW fonts,
there are some things to do in a definite order :
1) Verify you have "ttftool and "ttfadmin.sh" in the AW binary principal
directory (for me it is : "/usr/local/bin") where is the wrapper "abiword",
else, find them to place here.
2) Verify you have "ttmkfdir" in /usr/bin, else, find them to place here.
3) go to directory where are Abi's fonts.
( for me the directory is " /usr/local/share/AbiSuite/fonts " )
4) rename that "fonts" dir in "OldFonts".
5) create a new dir "fonts"
6) copy-paste the ".../windows/system/fonts" to dir "fonts"
7) remain in "fonts", and in a console, as "root", run the commands :
<< ...../fonts# ttmkfdir -o fonts.scale >>
<< ...../fonts# mkfontdir >>
(to obtain here, in "fonts", the both files : "fonts.scale" and "fonts.dir")
8) return to binary AbiWord dir, where must be (important) "ttftool"
and execute: << ...../bin# ttfadmin.sh /usr/local/share/AbiSuite/fonts >>
...and it is finished for a PC.
When you will launch AbiWord, the next time, you will have all the
good « ttf fonts » used by Windows...
I hope you will be able to use that with your Mac
