I have a weird problem. I've searched through some email archives, read
the FAQ, etc. If this problem has been addressed, I missed finding the
    solution and I apologize.

When I fire up abiword, an error dialog pops up with the following
    message:

        The font metrics file [/usr/share/AbiSuite/fonts//n021003l.pfb.afm]
could not be opened for parsing, nor was it possible to retrieve the
needed information from the X server; this is a fatal error and
        AbiWord will terminate.

Notice the `pfb.afm' on the end of that file name.

I'm running the Ximian version for RedHat 7.0 under Ximian's Gnome.
However, I compiled up the latest source from AbiSource and the
identical thing happened. The installation of the compiled version was
placed in /usr/local so (I think) it was completely separate. I used
"make UNIX_CAN_BUILD_STATIC=0 ABI_OPT_GNOME=1" as the command.

I also think the error report comes from
    "abi/src/af/xap/unix/xap_UnixFont.cpp" line 638 of 1194. I believe
that's the code which kicks up the error dialog.

Can some one tell me what's up or give me a way to track down the
    problem?

    Thanks ahead of time.
