Do this.
Press the "numbered list" button
1. |
The "|" is the cursor or caret.
Appears. Type and press return you get:
1. Line 1
2. Line 2
3. Line 3
4. |
Now press tab, you get:
1. Line 1
2. Line 2
3. Line 3
3.1 |
You've got a sublist.
Alternatively you could start up the Bullets and Numbering dialog and
with the cursor inside a list choose, "Start a new list".
