open MS word, choose File->Open.
or to change the file association, using explorer choose tools options
blah ... and delete the Abiword file association.
you should pay attention when installing software, you choose to have
abiword associated with .doc files
the new version of the installer has been idiot proofed for people
who dont read.

The installer will probably remove everything in the AbiSuite directory.
If you have documents saved in the AbiSuite directory or below then move
them.
if you mean can you open .abw documents without having abiword the answer
is basically no.
