Subject: insert symbol in win32

I don't think I had this problem under Linux, but I'm unable to check that
now. I'm trying to insert 'e' with a grave accent mark into my doc written
in Times New Roman. But the 'insert symbol' menu only presents me with all
sorts of symbol-related fonts, such as wingbats, math symbols, or phonetic
symbols. I can't find any 'normal' font name in the selection box there,
in particular I cannot find a line letting me insert a symbol from the
font I'm currently using. I have a vague recollection of being able to do
that with AbiWord, but it might have been the Linux version.
Do others have a similar problem with the Windows version, or is something
scr**d up with my installation? (Oh, it's the most recent Windows
binary.)
Thanks in advance,
Piotr
