There is a tick box in the installer that offers to Assciate Abiword
with .doc and .rtf
you should not have ticked it. i cant remember if it is off by default,
but i dont think so.

The document icon should match whatever program it is associated with
it. (That might not be what you meant, but im just making myself
totally clear).

It might be useful if abiword had differnt icons for differnent document
types, but that would require a fair bit of work and a talented artist
to provide lots of icons.
If you want to put in a bug report/request for enhancement to that
effect then please do (i might do it eventually myself if i remember).

Sincerely
Alan
