OK, I have AbiWord-0.9.5 compiled and installed for Slackware 7/glibc
2.1.3/kernel 2.4.x. I'd build a distribution package for Slackware,
except that make is insisting the canonical and distribution rules don't
exist.
Pros:
it's fast, a lot of things seem to work better. Haven't explored
new features yet. JPEG support is a good thing. So is page
margin control at last.
Cons:
It doesn't wrap lines if using TrueType fonts (also true of
0.9.4.1). This is a problem since my favorite text font, CG
Omega, is available only as a TrueType font. It worked fine on
0.9.2, but TrueType font handling has apparently broken since
then.
It ignores -geometry settings, so there's no way to force it to
open new windows at full page width. This is *annoying*, because
it means I have to manually resize every window.
Several annoying asserts come up repeatedly unless explicitly
configured with --disable-debug.
Questions:
What's the simplest way to change the default width of the font
dropdown to accomodate the longest font names (Nimbus Sans
Condensed and New Century Schoolbook) without lateral scrolling?
Having it constatly scroll back and forth while you're trying to
select a font is annoying and distracting.
