Si,
I had that problem as well. As I am new to the group, I do not know if you
have tried anything yet.
You need to have the ispell program as well as iamerican, the
american.hash dictionary file.
From my laptop:
joe@cesium:~$ locate american.hash
/usr/lib/ispell/american.hash
/usr/share/abisuite/dictionary/american.hash
joe@cesium:~$
The abisuite directory contains a symlink to the ispell directory.
Also make sure that all of your permissions are set correctly. Another
problem might be that the .hash file is corrupt or somthing.
Just some ideas. I hope you get it working as AbiWord is a great program
to use.
