Your problem highlights an issue that I posted only a few days ago -
namely that the latest .deb package available for download does not
install on the latest Debian stable (potato) despite what the
documentation says. These dependency problems are exactly what I see with
Debian 2.2r2 and indicate to me that the .deb package will only install on
Debian unstable.
You have a few alternatives ....
1. Upgrade??? to Debian unstable - this is as it says, potentially
unstable because it is the next version of Debian under development.
I do not recommend this unless you fully understand the implications of
such a change. You cannot just attempt to install a libc6 >= 2.1.97
because that will break the rest of your Debian install ... what isn't
dependent on libc6 :-)
2. Install cvs and the rest and build it yourself. I have tried this,
though I am no expert, and it does work. If you want to experiment with
the abiword .deb that I have built for Debian stable, get back to me.
We really do need a change in the documentation on
http://www.abisource.com/dl_linux_intel.phtml ... hint ... hint :-)
Andy.
