Hi everyone
I'm a Linux novice trying to install Abiword on a RH 7.0 system. All goes
well until I try to start it up when it complains about the lack of Times
New Roman. This seems strange since I've downloaded the truetype
Microsoft fonts and installed them as instructed with apparent success.
The current setup has
/usr/share/AbiSuite/fonts
linked to
/usr/share/fonts/MS/
which contains the following
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 275572 Jun 11 2000 Arial.TTF
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 286620 Jun 11 2000 Arialbd.TTF
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 224692 Jun 11 2000 Arialbi.TTF
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 206132 Jun 11 2000 Ariali.TTF
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 330412 Jun 11 2000 Times.TTF
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 333900 Jun 11 2000 Timesbd.TTF
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 238612 Jun 11 2000 Timesbi.TTF
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 247092 Jun 11 2000 Timesi.TTF
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 302688 Jun 11 2000 cour.ttf
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 311508 Jun 11 2000 courbd.ttf
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 234788 Jun 11 2000 courbi.ttf
-rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 244156 Jun 11 2000 couri.ttf
-rw-rw-r-- 1 root root 12178 Apr 23 11:19 fonts.dir
-rw-rw-r-- 1 root root 12178 Apr 23 11:19 fonts.scale
my /etc/X11/fs/config file has the new directory mentioned
catalogue = /usr/share/fonts/MS,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc:unscaled,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi:unscaled,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/misc,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Type1,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/Speedo,
        /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/fonts/75dpi,
        /usr/share/fonts/default/Type1
The xfs server seems to be running fine.
What can be the problem? Any help much appreciated.
