Hi. I work in a computing laboratory in my university, and we are
thinking in install AbiWord for all our users, but there is a
problem running it.
We have StarOffice 5.1 installed, but it consumes lots of resources
and considering we have 400+ users that's a big problem. 8)
Our laboratory structure consists mainly of various Solaris servers
and the clients are mainly PC's with the XWin-32 X Window emulator.
The probel is that Abiwords works perfectly localy in a Solaris box,
but using the XWin32 clients it fails, I supose the problem is with
the fonts.
The error it gives in Xwin32 is:
[ateam] /usr/usuaris/sistemes/ivanb/scratch/install/AbiSuite/bin > ./AbiWord
Segmentation Fault
./AbiWord: test: argument expected
xset -q gives:
[...]
Font Path:
C:/Archivos de programa/X-Win32/Lib/Fonts/misc,C:/Archivos de programa/X-Win32/Lib/Fonts/75dpi,C:/Archivos de programa/X-Win32/Lib/Fonts/CDE,C:/Archivos de programa/X-Win32/Lib/Fonts/Andrew,C:/Archivos de programa/X-Win32/Lib/Fonts/OpenWindows,C:/Archivos de programa/X-Win32/Lib/Fonts/100dpi,C:/Archivos de programa/X-Win32/Lib/Fonts/SCO
First of all the fonts XWin-32 needs in the client-side must be in
BDF or FON format, and Abisource comes with Adobe .pfm fonts. We don't
know how to convert it nor how finding them in .bdf format.
The second problem can be that abisource can't find the fonts locally...
it uses xset to locate fonts locally???? I read in the FAQ Abiword acess
the font locally too...
Can you help me please???
Thanks.
