Subject: Can't find fonts

I installed abisuite-0.7.9-Linux_i386_static.tar.gz (after uncompressing
and "untarring") on an Intel machine running Mandrake Linux. The
installation appeared successful, and the program goes into execution,
but it fails immediately. When it fails it gives the message:
"AbiWord could not find any local font files in its font path. <More
about not invoking AbiWord directly; I am using the wrapper shell
script. ...>
The current font path contains the following directories:
[/usr/local/AbiSuite/fonts]
Please visit http://www.abisource.com/for more information."
The directory /usr/local/AbiSuite/fonts does contain a large number of
files, but either they are the wrong files or the message is trying to
tell me something else. If the abisource website has any more
information on this topic, I was unable to find it. I would appreciate
any suggestions.
