I'm trying to upgrade from 0.7.8 to 0.7.9 (on RH linux 5.1). However, at the
moment I'm unable to run abiword except as root.

I downloaded abisuite-0.7.9-linux_i386_static.tar.gz and installed it over the
top of 0.7.8 without any problems, however, when I try to started it up from
the command line I get the message -

GLib-WARNING **: getpwuid_r(): failed due to: No such user 500

(user 500 does exist - its me!)

and a window with an error message in that reads -

Abiword could not find local font files in its font path. Often this is the
result of invoking Abiword directly instead of through its wrapper shell
script. The script sets the environment variable $ABISUITE_HOME which
should point to the directory where AbiSuite components reside.

The current font path contains the following directories:

        [/usr/local/AbiSuite/fonts]

Amongst other things I've tried invoking Abiword both directly and through the
shell script, I've had a look at the file permissions which seems to be okay,
I've tried editing the script so that
ABISUITE_FONT_HOME=/usr/local/AbiSuite/fonts and lastly I've tried a fresh
install (rather than an install into a existing AbiSuite directory). However, I
still can't start Abiword except as root. What am I missing?

Simon
