(1) Can AbiWord display non-iso-8859-1 characters? If so, how can I
make it work? Using Debian's 0.7.7-1 I tried importing a UTF-8 file
and saving it as an AbiWord file. That worked (file contents looked
correct). But the non-iso-8859-1 chars were displayed modulo 256.

I don't know much about X fonts, unfortunately. I just know that I can
display Unicode character with Emacs, with xterm and with Mozilla,
having read the Unicode-HOWTO and hacked around a bit.

(2) A friend tried to install AbiWord on Windows and said he got just
"x"s when he tried to type anything. Does this sound familiar to
anyone? Don't worry if it doesn't; I'm sure you've got better,
first-hand bug reports to spend your time on ...
