Hi guys,
I am sure somebody has asked similar questions but I could not find good
answer in the archives.
Ok - the problem - I want to add Type1 fonts to AbiWord.
I am using a RedHat6.2 system with HelixGnome.
AbiWord is their version - abisuite-0.7.11-0_helix_4.
Here come the questions.
1. fonts go in /usr/share/AbiSuite/fonts.
Can I use pfb files or abiword accepts only pfa?
2. fonts are declared in the
/usr/share/AbiSuite/fonts/fonst.dir file. Does it have the same
structure as the fonts.dir file for the X server?
3. When I copy or symlink my afm & pfa font files to
/usr/share/AbiSuite/fonts/, declare them properly in
/usr/share/AbiSuite/fonts/fonts.dir (i.e. if I do xset fp+
/usr/share/AbiSuite/fonts/ && xset fp rehash - they appear to the X
server), my new fonts get displayed in the font drop dialogue of
abiword, but I cannot format text with these fonts on the screen - the
font dialogue says they are formatted with my font timeset for example,
but their oulines are of the default abiword font. What do I have to
check, etc.?
4. Does abiword check the encoding part of the declaration of font in
fonts.dir?
can I use for example microsoft-cp1251, or I have to lie and use
adobe-fontspecific?
