You bet. It was because of that problem that I joined the list. I'm
surprised this hasn't yet been added to the FAQ list. This is supposed
to be fixed in the next version and the current workaround is to avoid
the splash screen which is invoking libpng in a way that is incompatible
with the new version (1.0.5) of that library that comes with RH 6.2. Use
the "-nosplash" option when invoking abiword and it will work. Also,
don't invoke Help->About because that will trigger the same problem and
kill the program. I've also been told that you can downgrade libpng to
1.0.3, but I'm afraid that might break some other dependency.
