Combo Box bug with 0.5.5

Could someone give me the EXACT steps to reproduce this bug?
I just built a clean fresh 0.5.5 tarball, and I can use the combo boxes
in the toolbars, both to change formatting options and to "cancel" the
change (by just closing the boxes) and I can type all day long,
spaces and all, with no problems whatsoever.

I'm using Gtk+ 1.2.0, Gtk+ 1.2.1, and Gtk+ 1.2.2 (on three
different machines) and they all work.
